Petroleum Engineering Advisor

Position is for a Production engineer with demonstrable reservoir engineering support experience, working within a multidisciplinary subsurface team in support of field development and responsible for optimizing the performance of existing development wells from the completion through the choke. Position reports to the Subsurface Manager. Key
Responsibilities include:
Well Surveillance
Identifies key metrics for well and artificial lift surveillance and tracks the metrics.
Prepares well surveillance plans, processes and tools for efficiently monitoring well performance.
Together with reservoir engineers makes oil, gas and water forecasts for all existing wells. Therefore, simulation experience desirable.
Monitors actual well performance relative to forecast to identify performance deviations.
Diagnosis well performance deviations to identify causes. Forwards reservoir issues to reservoir engineers.
Well test planning/design and interpretation
Assist in kicking off wells
Well Optimization
Well planning
Production allocation
Engineers work over and stimulation proposals to improve well or field performance and justifies the work with sound business cases.
Maintains a prioritized inventory of work over and stimulation opportunities and works with drilling and operations to schedule and execute the work.
Assists facility engineers and operations personnel in identifying facilities optimization opportunities which could improve well or field performance. Prepare sound business cases to justify implementation.
Together with reservoir and completions engineers design the completion and artificial lift for new development wells.
Assists process engineers in identifying and sizing required production facilities.
Provides technical specifications for service and equipment contract tendering, evaluation and implementation.
Coordinates with drilling and operations to schedule well and reservoir surveillance data gathering activities in the field to minimize the impact.
Initiates look backs on a recurring basis to evaluate the performance of recommended projects.
Prepares well operating guidelines and procedures for field personnel as appropriate.
Communications and reporting
Liaises with field operating personnel on well and artificial lift operations.
Liaises with drilling and field personnel for scheduling and execution of data gathering and work over activities.
Assists in the preparation of budget and work programs and subsequent reviews and monitors execution and expenditures versus the plan.
Prepares and presents technical presentations to management, partners and government agencies.
Qualifications/ Experience:
The following skills, qualifications and experience are required:
BS in Petroleum engineering or a related discipline
Minimum 15 years industry experience including at least 8 years of optimization experience.
Initiative - Self motivation, able to work independently and as part of a team
Analytical thinking –identify and solve technical problems
Team Worker – collaborates across teams and departments
Experience as a wellsite supervisor to do a production work
Mentoring – able to mentor less experienced production engineers
Communication – able to communicate complex technical arguments clearly and persuade peers, partners and management.
Thorough understand production engineering such as completion, stimulation, well testing, and production optimization
Experience with nodal analysis and network modeling
Experience with various forms of artificial lift design and optimization, especially gas lift
Experience with production forecasting and reserves estimation
Experience with stimulation design and application
Experience with economics analysis and business case development
Familiarity with optimization software tools such as OFM, Pansys, Saphire, Prosper, Gap, etc. Reservoir simulation experience eis a big plus.
Experience with drilling and field production operations.
Experience in dealing with industry regulators (BPMigas) and partners
Excellent communication and presentation skills
